Associate Degree Nursing Program at Bevill State

The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program at Bevill State Community College is a five-semester program whose mission is preparing professional nurses (RNs) to address health care needs of the community in both acute and long-term care settings where policies and procedures are specified. Critical thinking, the nursing process, communication, safety, client education, ethical-legal issues, the health-illness continuum, and pharmacology are core themes used to develop content within the curriculum. The ADN curriculum incorporates general education courses along with nursing courses. The nursing courses include classroom instruction with guided clinical experiences in varied health care agencies.

RCTC Nursing Associate Degree Program

The associate degree registered nurse (RN) is prepared to practice nursing in situations involving direct patient care, most frequently in the hospital or long-term care facility. Graduates are prepared to function as defined in Minnesota statutes by a) providing a nursing assessment of the community; b) providing nursing care supportive to or restorative of life functions such as skilled ministration of nursing care, supervising and teaching nursing personnel, health teaching and counseling, case finding and referral to other health resources; and c) evaluating these actions.

This two-year program qualifies graduates to write the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurse (RN) status. The progression track is for licensed practical nurses (LPNs) desiring to further their education toward the RN status.
