My current resume lists "counseling" as a job decription, is this term only reserved for graduate degrees?

I am a Case Manager at a Mental Health facility running groups and conducting indivdual and group counseling sessions. Can I use the term counseling in my resume or personal statement for grad schools, if I only have a BA in psych?

Yes. You are referring to what actions you perform, what you facilitate and not what credentials you possess.

why is the percentage of African immigrants with college and Graduate Degrees higher than whites and Asians??

I see! Why is it, really?
That no one is going to agree, we all trying to come up with different excuses of why this is!
I also came up with the same excuses as yours!
But I was like , wait, maybe they are doing good. Why don’t I just accept it!

This is just a guess but probably most (not all) white and asian countries economies offer more oppotunity for educated residents to make a decent living and have less civil strife so they have less reason to immigrate. While african countries are in trouble economicly due to the civil unrest there like I said this is just a guess

If engineering degrees were exclusively graduate degrees, like JDs and MBAs would there be more engineers?

But if you’ve graduated without an engineering degree you’re too old to go back or you can’t go back.
I’m interested because I know so many people who graduated with useless degrees and went for MBAs or JDs because they had to. None of these people even thought about an engineering degree.

Making an engineering degree harder to obtain (adding 4 years of undergrad before actually attempting engineering degree) would not increase number of engineers. It doesn’t make sense.

How is the points system used to classify under graduate degrees in UK universities?

This can vary from uni to uni. At my uni:

70% and over = First class
60-69%= Upper Second
50-59%= Lower Second
40-49%=Third class.

This is only valid at the end of the three years, as the final mark is worked out from all the marks in your second and third year, though the two lowest scored are dropped from the calculations.

You will need to check with your own uni exactly how they work things out.

An undergraduate degree is an associate’s degree (2-year* degree), or a bachelor’s degree (4-year*).

A graduate degree would be a master’s degree (6 year*) or a doctoral degree (8 year*). These are including the undergraduate years, so you typically need undergraduate plus two years for master’s and undergraduate plus 4 years for doctorate.

*Years can vary. You’ll see a lot of ‘lazy’ people complete a bachelor’s in 5 years, and someone who is working and going to school might take longer to get a graduate degree.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Master of Public Administration (MPA)

both are more than appropriate for a history major and are generalist degrees leading to management positions. The MBA probably has more immediate value, the MPA can lead to some really sweet government jobs.

MFA in Creative Writing (writing historical fiction)
MA/MS in Technical Writing (writing/editing text material)

good writers with a specialty background are in short supply.

JD – what else need be said about the lucre of a law degree?

MA/MS in Journalism – with the intent of becoming an international journalist. Who better to write what will become history than a historian?

MA in Museum Studies. I don’t know about how much these people get paid but it has to be a pretty cool job.

MA in History (followed by a PhD) – but only if you’re really dedicated to a very narrow specialty and are ready to become the foremost expert on that subject; and then write about it.

Any degree can be turned into a fascinating career, you just have to decide what you want to do and then go do it.

cause i have heard that in canada, they do not accept degrees from other provinces when you are applying for job. is it the same in america?

Yes they are if the university is accredited.
